AUSTRALIAN AGE PENSION

Age Pension Estimate

See how your income, savings and assets affect an estimated pension.

Rates effective
20 September 2026
Planning estimate for ordinary Age Pension while living in Australia. Services Australia determines eligibility and the final amount. Estimates are before tax and deductions.

1. Your circumstances

All amounts in AUD

Income and assets are assessed for the couple even when only one partner qualifies. If your partner is under 67, select “No pension”.

Normally requires at least 10 years of Australian residence, including 5 continuous years, with exceptions and international agreement rules. Check the official rules.

2. Savings and assets

Combined for a couple. Include savings, shares, managed funds, assessable super and account-based pensions subject to deeming. Exclude a younger partner’s accumulation super while they are under 67 and it is not paying a pension. Older or exempt income streams need a separate assessment.

Combined for a couple. Include assessable vehicles, household contents at resale value, other property and other assets. Exclude your principal home and financial assets already entered above. Use Centrelink assessable values after permitted debt deductions.

3. Income per fortnight

Combined for a couple. Include assessable net rent, foreign pensions and income streams not covered by deeming. Exclude Age Pension itself, interest/dividends from financial assets above and withdrawals from account-based pensions subject to deeming. Deemed income is added automatically.

Applies to entered employment income for the Age Pension recipients in this estimate. Accumulated Work Bonus credits and the starting credit are excluded; they can temporarily increase your actual payment.

Excludes Rent Assistance, tax, debts, advance repayments and special rates. Residence and other eligibility rules are assumed unless you select otherwise. A zero here does not rule out other payments.

The lower of two tests

The maximum normal pension includes the Pension Supplement and Energy Supplement. The calculator works out the income-tested and assets-tested amounts, then uses the lower result. Couple results show the pension for the recipients selected, not a second payment for an ineligible partner.

Deemed income and Work Bonus

Financial assets are deemed at 1.75% up to $66,800 for a single person or $110,600 for a couple, and 3.75% above that. Annual deemed income is divided by 26. The regular Work Bonus reduces eligible employment income by up to $300 per fortnight for each pensioner included.

Annual estimates use 26 identical fortnights and monthly figures divide that projection by 12. Rates and circumstances are held constant; this is not a forecast of future increases.

Frequently asked questions

How is my Age Pension estimate calculated?

The calculator applies the included income and assets tests to your circumstances and uses the test producing the lower pension estimate. Financial assets may generate deemed income.

Can couples use the Age Pension calculator?

Yes. Enter your relationship and pension eligibility details, combined assets and relevant income. Read the included rules for couples with only one eligible partner.

Does this estimate confirm my eligibility?

No. Age, residence and other eligibility conditions still apply. Services Australia determines actual entitlement; overseas circumstances and complex assets may need separate assessment.
